Infosecurity Europe a Highly Successful Event
Neil Stinchcombe, public relations contact for this year’s Infosecurity Europe, dropped us an e-mail with some of the statistics on this highly successful event. I’ve also added couple of quotes from the executives that presented their companies during the convention. Neil notes, that the Infosecurity Europe proved that the Information security market is going from strength to strength with over 8,800 serious buyers visiting the show, making the 8th Infosecurity Europe the best ever.
This year saw more companies exhibiting at Infosecurity Europe than ever before with over 300 companies converging at the event to show why information security has continued to rise to the top of the corporate agenda. Evidence that Information security is receiving more attention at board level came from the show demographics with 23% of the visitors being at director level up from 18% last year. There were also a lot more people with money to spend, this year 65% had direct purchasing authority compared to 37% last year. Large corporates looking for security solutions were also well represented, as over 33% of visitors were from companies with over 1000 employees, and over 22% from companies that employ over 5000.
Peter Dunkley, Marketing Director, Adhaero Technologies Inc said: “Even with a small stand we were busy throughout the show. We gave over 100 demonstrations of Adhaero Doc alone, and have come away with literally hundreds of qualified contacts.”
Ernst Kelting, VP Worldwide Sales & Marketing, Astaro AG said: “Infosecurity Europe 2003 was a really valuable event for Astaro. We used the event to launch our presence in the UK and France, and were primarily looking for channel partners at the show. We received over 100 partner leads and over 150 end user enquiries, many of which we consider to be very strong leads, and feel that exhibiting at InfoSec was a really worthwhile investment for our European expansion.”
Jason Holloway, General Manager UK, F Secure Corporation noted: “Fantastic, we feel that Infosecurity Europe is a vital part of our brand awareness strategy, we have had a high number of good quality leads whilst continuing to grow our presence in the UK. It has also served to grow our channel presence, we have signed up 30 new partners. All in all a fantastic show, it’s also always good to catch up on all the industry gossip, it’s a great networking opportunity.
Stuart Okin, Chief Security Officer, Microsoft Ltd said: “We believe that this years Infosecurity Europe is the best to date. We are highly supportive of the event. It is really important for our customers, our partners and government to work closely together around security to create a trusted environment. It is a great forum and platform for all of these people and interested parties to get together around information security.”
Steve Knight, Marketing Executive, ProCheckUp noted: “Infosec 2003 proved a big success for ProCheckUp, with not only the quantity of leads obtained well up on last year, but the quality of visitor also greatly improved with an increased number of decision-makers. In addition, ProCheckUp have also begun talking to several new organisations with regard to partnerships on our managed penetration testing service as a direct result of the exhibition”.
Graham Welch, EMEA Sales Director, Sourcefire said: “Infosecurity Europe provided an excellent launch pad for Sourcefire’s activities in Europe. We were impressed by both end users and resellers visiting our stand. Even more satisfying was that so many were already users of Snort.”
