nCipher and Cardinal partner on secure e-transactions
Cardinal, a develop of e-transaction security products, is the latest e-payment company to use nCipher’s hardware-based encryption products to secure online payments. With Cardinal, and recently announced partnerships with Cyota (press release) and Arcot (press release), nCipher is being used by the vast majority of the e-payment security vendors.
Cardinal will be using nCipher’s nShield hardware security module with the CardinalCommerce product to provide financial service institutions a secure way to implement cardholder and payment authentication systems that satisfy the requirements of the MasterCard SecureCode and Visa 3-D Secure initiatives.
Alpha Bank, a Greek bank offering an online payment service meeting the Verified by Visa online authentication standards, is the first win for this partnership, as it is using Cardinal and nCipher to meet Visa’s standards. Alpha Bank is the official bank of the Athens 2004 Olympic Games and the acquirer for the 2004 Olympic ticket sales website.
Tim Sherwin executive vice president of CardinalCommerce said: “Protection of consumer cardholder data is paramount. With nCipher’s validated security solution and CardinalCommerce’s Payment Authorization Platform, financial institutions such as Alpha Bank are assured they are getting a best of breed solution for protection against online card fraud. CardinalCommerce is now working to integrate nCipher’s recently announced payShield HSM with its Payment Authentication Platform to provide enhanced payment functionality out of the box.”
