3 out of 4 infosec pros unsure they would spot a breach
LogRhythm announced the results of its 2nd Annual Cyber Threat Readiness Survey of 150 IT security professionals on their organizations’ readiness to address advanced cyber security threats.
The good news is that despite the erosion of IT professionals’ overall confidence, respondents from organizations that have deployed next generation firewalls (NGFW) and SIEM technologies are three-and-a-half times (3.5X) more confident in their ability to detect key breach indicators.
The bad news is that an alarming 75 percent of respondents lack confidence in their ability to recognize key indicators of a breach.
Respondents surveyed represented companies across many industries, including financial services, federal government, healthcare, manufacturing, retail, utilities, education, communications and energy.
Other interesting survey findings revealed:
- 18 percent are confident they’ll know when a host gets compromised (Down 11 percent compared to 2012)
- 17 percent are confident they’ll know when a user’s credentials get compromised (Down 4 percent)
- 24 percent are confident in their ability to identify internal anomalous activity (Unchanged)
- 20 percent are confident in their ability to detect rogue processes (Down 1 percent)
- 19 percent are confident in their ability to recognize abnormal behavior patterns (Down 3 percent).
