Mobile communications hub with embedded encryption
API Technologies announced the new SST Secure Communications Hub (SCH) with integrated encryption. The SB1500ER Secure Communication Hub is a single, integrated device that replaces case-based solutions.
It provides both 3G or satellite connectivity and high grade (Type 1 equivalent) IP encryption. The SCH is currently deployed in the UK Government.
“API specializes in developing leading-edge secure mobility products that deliver high performance in harsh or rugged environments. The SCH meets the growing demand from government and military users who need fast, highly-reliable, encrypted, on-the-go connectivity in remote locales,” said Matthew Richards, Vice President/Managing Director, SSIA International, API Technologies.
The SCH integrates accredited data transmission (Mini-CATAPAN encryption) and data at rest (Eclypt drive in Laptop) products for an accredited highly secure mobile solution. It features three red-side LAN ports enabling it to act as a secure communications “hub” and provides encrypted WAN (BGAN, ADSL, etc.) or 3G black-side connectivity.
“By combining a compact and lightweight rugged design with the capability to provide WAN access to multiple users – our new Secure Communication Hub is ideal for ad-hoc mobile or remote military and government environments,” added Richards.
For unplugged tactical use, the SCH can operate on battery power, ensuring continuous operation when AC power is not available. The user interface provides connectivity selection, battery status, crypto key-fill and management features with the Mini-CATAPAN identifier remaining visible.
It meets MIL-STD-810G and MIL-STD-461F requirements. A vehicle mounted version for government, military, and first responders is also available.
