Pirate Bay’s co-founder deported to Sweden, Anonymous hacks Cambodian ministry
Pirate Bay co-founder Gottfrid Svartholm has been deported from Cambodia and has landed at Stockholm’s airport this morning, reports TorrentFreak.
The formal reason behind his deportation was the expiry of his Cambodia visa, but wasn’t allowed to choose the country to which to be deported.
Swedish officials – likely from the embassy – escorted him to Thailand, where they handed him over two Swedish police officers waiting aboard a Thai Airways plane that headed for Sweden.
Upon landing, Svartholm was first questioned, then charged with taking part in the hack of Swedish IT company Logica, then finally taken into custody by the Swedish probation service.
In the meantime, the news of Svartholm’s arrest has obviously hit a sore spot with Anonymous hackers, who allegedly proceeded to hack into the systems of the Cambodian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, exfiltrate sensitive documents from them and make two archives containing over 5200 documents available to the public as a way of protesting against the arrest.
“You will find there lotsa stuff including Combodian and Nepal drug trafficking authorities, army, consulates Kyrghyztan and Ukraine classified documents, Belarus, India etc etc all related to Cambodian authorities and business,” they claim. “Also included internet banking certificate depos and clients which belong to the mentioned authorities.”
