Another alleged LulzSec member arrested for Sony hack

Another suspected LulzSec member has been charged for his alleged role in the attacks against Sony Pictures Entertainment’s website and computer systems, the theft of over one million user accounts, and their subsequent publishing on the Internet.

According to the L.A. Times, 20-year-old Raynaldo Rivera from Tempe, Arizona, turned himself in to FBI agents on Tuesday after a federal grand jury indictment in Los Angeles against him was unsealed that morning.

As the previously arrested 23-year-old Phoenix resident Cody Andrew Kretsinger (aka “recursion”) before him, Rivera – who went by the online handles of “wildicv,” “neuron” and “royal” – is accused of using proxy services to hide his online activities and mounting an SQL injection attack against the company’s systems, as well as stealing and publishing the thusly obtained confidential information on the hacker group’s website.

Rivera has been charged with two counts including conspiracy and the unauthorized impairment of a protected computer, and if convicted, could end up with a 15-year-long prison sentence.

Kretsinger pleaded guilty to the charges and will be sentenced on October 25. Rivera is yet to be brought to court.
