Twitter plans to tighten security
Twitter announced it plans to hire 27 new people on jobs ranging from executive assistant to data analyst, software engineer to interaction designer. For a company as small as Twitter – with roughly 120 employees – this means that there are great plans in store.
Biz Stone, Creative Director and one of the Twitter co-founders announced back in November that their goal for 2010 is – revenue. So the new minds that will be coming into the firm will work on improving Twitter features and developing new ones that will bring in money.
According to V3.co.uk, the security team will also be gaining fresh blood because the company is eager to avoid situations such as the DNS hijacking that occurred in December.
A network and infrastructure security manager will be responsible for defining system and application security policies and working with groups to implement them, designing procedures for responding to security issues and designing and implementing systems to detect and prevent network intrusion. He will also have to define general best practice security policies and organize 24×7 monitoring and response for security-related events.
In the meantime, the anti-spam software engineer will look for ways to make Twitter a safer place, design and implement core, back-end spam components, analyze disparate data sources to find obfuscated patterns and solve and fix problems.
