UK Company Achieves The New International Standard In Information Security
London – January 20, 2006 – Attenda Limited, the Always On Managed Services company, today announced that it has achieved certification to ISO/IEC 27001, the global information security standard, from the British Standards Institution (BSI).
The standard was adopted by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) on 15 October 2005 and replaces the previous British Standard, BS 7799 Part 2.
“The security of information needs to be a core attribute of any business. Adoption of the ISO27001 standard is an important benchmark that demonstrates this and builds confidence amongst clients, partners and suppliers” said Mark Fowle, Chief Executive Officer at Attenda. “This certification is an indicator of the quality of our Information Management Systems and the importance we place in providing a secure environment for our clients’ vital applications”.
Attenda was an early adopter of the original BS 7999 standard and was one of the first companies to achieve certification when it was initially launched.
“As ISO 27001 is based on the original British Standard BS 7799, it’s highly appropriate that a UK company is among the first in achieving this standard” said Robert Whitcher, Global Product Manager, BSI Management Systems, “This standard is another milestone in recognising the importance of good security practises. By achieving certification to ISO 27001 it demonstrates the importance that Attenda is placing on the protection of information entrusted to them by their customers, and is leading the way in the IT sector”.
