Kaspersky Anti-Virus 5.0 for Windows File Server updates released
Kaspersky Lab, a leading developer of solutions that protect against viruses, Trojans, worms, hacker attacks and spam, announces the release of a new update package for Kaspersky(r) Anti-Virus 5.0 for File Servers – Maintenance Pack 3 (MP3).
The technologies and procedures employed in Maintenance Pack 3 have been fine-tuned to provide improved functionality. This has been achieved by optimizing some of the key functions in Maintenance Pack 3 and adding support for lists of trusted processes. Moreover, the system administrator can now exclude certain processes from protection, thus helping to reduce system load. The solution’s performance is also increased through the now full compatibility with Microsoft Windows 2003 Server x64.
Kaspersky Anti-Virus 5.0 for Windows File Servers now provides administrator-friendly features, such as a new function that automatically restarts the application’s processes after they are terminated or after a software failure. This simplifies the administrator’s job in situations when normal operations are disrupted. The product also has a user-friendly interface providing a convenient system for automatically updating antivirus databases and flexible configuration.
A revised mechanism for remotely updating the antivirus databases and modules helps reduce network traffic and free up disk space on the local update server. Now the system can be configured to download only those components of the antivirus database and application module updates that are relevant to the products on the customer’s network. In the product’s earlier versions, updates for all Kaspersky Lab products were distributed to the enterprise network. In this version, however, if the customer’s network only comprises Windows systems, then only updates for Windows workstations and file servers will be downloaded.
Kaspersky Anti-Virus for Windows File Servers uses cutting-edge technology to provide reliable antivirus protection for file servers running under the Windows operating system, and ensures the effective detection and removal of malicious code from all file system objects on the server. The application works equally well on all networks of all sizes, from small businesses to major multinational corporations.
