Senforce Survey Finds Companies Don’t Secure Data “On the Move”
Draper, Utah – October 5, 2005 – Senforce Technologiesâ„? Inc., the leader in location-aware endpoint and wireless security enforcement, today announced the findings of research it conducted by surveying 56 public and private sector organizations. The Senforce survey revealed that while 87 percent of critical business data is found on endpoint PCs, 56 percent of those asked think their current wireless network security strategy is reactive or inadequate.
To collect the data, information security and technology managers and employees were surveyed by Senforce in the New York, Washington DC, San Francisco, Denver and Salt Lake City geographies. Other key survey findings include:
82 percent of new PC procurements are notebooks versus desktop PCs
74 percent of those notebooks are wireless-enabled
92 percent are concerned about notebooks moving in and out of the network perimeter
43 percent have deployed production wireless networking infrastructure with defined policies
63 percent prefer non-proprietary wireless networking hardware solutions
35 percent of malware (virus, worm, spy ware) incidents resulted from endpoint intrusions while off the managed network
“Organizations are increasing the productivity of their people through the purchase of wireless-enabled notebooks; this technology shift has introduced new security threats for employees in the office, on the road and while working at home,” said Mike Hall, chief executive officer, Senforce. “Wireless networking is proliferating ahead of endpoint security controls and introduces new threats. Senforce is establishing leadership in the endpoint and wireless security with its new Senforce Wi-Fi Security (SWIS) solution for corporate endpoint PCs. With SWIS, Wi-Fi security policies are easily managed, automated and enforced anytime, anywhere.”
SWIS ensures all endpoint PCs, including desktops, notebooks, and tablet PCs, comply with corporate security policies governing Wi-Fi network connectivity and security. With advanced, patent-pending, location-aware technology, SWIS enforces highly customizable system connectivity policies that are centrally managed, automatically distributed to end-users, and continuously enforced, always and everywhere, without user intervention.
