TalkTalk offers safer surfing with F-Secure

TalkTalk, the free home phone calls and broadband provider from The Carphone Warehouse, has teamed up with security software provider F-Secure to respond to the changing needs of broadband consumers and bring enterprise-level security to homes.

TalkTalk is the latest in a string of ISPs to sign up with F-Secure, one of the few security software providers to offer a solution via a monthly subscription, in line with the changing needs of broadband consumers.

TalkTalk has over one million customers who talk to each other for free, forever, on their home phones. It offers 1MB and 2 MB broadband packages with no formal download limits, free modem, five free email address, 15MB of free web space for customers to make their own website and now, F-Secure Internet Security software on a flexible monthly service.

The security software protects families’ PCs from viruses, worms, spam and hacking. It also includes a parental control feature to protect children from unsuitable websites. At the end of the trial period customers can opt to purchase the software on an ongoing monthly subscription basis, to allow families to adjust their chosen level of security month-by-month, according to their needs and circumstances. Users will also benefit from free, regular updates to protect them from new and emerging threats.

Hayley Dawes, marketing director at TalkTalk, said: “We chose F-Secure’s Internet Security suite not only because of its award winning levels of protection and speed of response to new threats, but also because of the flexibility it offers home users. As a security conscious ISP, we want to enable Internet users to protect their families from threats to the same level as a multinational company would protect its network. At the same time, we want to offer a customisable solution that can be tailored to keep up with consumers’ needs every month.”

Brian Gregory, ISP business manager at F-Secure UK and Ireland, said: “Having reviewed F-Secure’s service provider concept and security software, TalkTalk was quick to move to the implementation stages, which is testimony to the fact that it is a company that’s keen to react to customer feedback,” Gregory continued. “Our new relationship will help the company to cement its well known, family-oriented reputation.”

F-Secure is the European market leader in delivering security solutions to Internet users through ISPs with its multiple award-winning solutions. It is looking forward to a continued partnership with TalkTalk,Tesco Internet, Kingston Communications In the UK and other leading ISPs including Charter Communications in the US, Deutsche Telekom and WEB.DE in Germany, Wanadoo in France, TeliaSonera in Sweden and Finland, Glocalnet and com hem in Sweden, Cablecom in Switzerland, TDC Cable TV in Denmark, Telenet in Belgium, Czech Telecom in Czech Republic and Elisa Oyj in Finland.
