AEP Networks’ Netilla Security Platform SSL VPN Achieves Certification from Virtual Private Network Consortium
Hemel Hempstead – June 8, 2005 – AEP Networks, the specialist in network and application access security, announced that its AEP Netilla(r) Security Platform SSL VPN has achieved certification from the Virtual Private Network Consortium (VPNC), an international trade association for VPN manufacturers.
VPNC’s certification program involves extensive testing that mimics real-world experiences of SSL VPN users. The testing guarantees security, functionality and interoperability with business-critical applications, such as Microsoft Outlook Web Access. Certification also assures SSL VPN users that they can access applications remotely using the latest version of the Mozilla Firefox browser.
VPNC certified the AEP Netilla Security Platform’s support for a broad range of SSL VPN features and included separate VPNC testing programs for Basic Interoperability, SSL Portal, SSL Exchange and SSL Firefox.
“Security is a top priority for the global business community, and IT decision makers need independent guidance from third-party organisations they can trust,” said Reggie Best, executive vice president and general manager of AEP Networks’ Secure Application Access Business Unit. “VPNC certification assures customers that AEP’s Netilla Security Platform meets stringent security standards. It also guarantees secure and seamless interoperability with OWA, which is critical given the large demand for Web-based access to Outlook.”
“AEP Networks is an important player in the security industry so we are pleased to certify the AEP Netilla Security Platform and welcome AEP as a VPNC member,” said Paul Hoffman, director of the VPNC. “When run through rigorous SSL VPN testing, AEP delivered impressive results. AEP customers can be confident that the NSP provides the highest levels of security, functionality and application access.”
The VPNC certification marks AEP Networks’ second third-party certification for its SSL VPN solution. In April the company announced the Netilla Security Platform achieved certification from ICSA Labs for Version 2.0 of its SSL-TLS VPN testing program, which mandates strict new security standards for client integrity checking and cache cleaning, among other areas.
