Trapeze Networks Attacks Rapidly Growing Linux Market With Industry’s First Certifed Radius Solution For Novell’s Suse Linux

PLEASANTON, Calif. – March 28, 2005 – Trapeze Networksâ„?, maker of award-winning wireless local area networking (WLAN) systems, today announced Certification Status for the Trapeze Mobility Systemâ„? on Novell’s SUSE Linux and eDirectory.

The FreeRADIUS implementation that ships with Novell’s SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 9 or Open Enterprise Server integrates seamlessly with the Trapeze Mobility System. This means that the entire installed base of SUSE Linux solutions can now deploy Trapeze’s secure and robust wireless solution without having to integrate and install any new third party RADIUS solution.

Alpha NetSolutions, software integrator and Novell Platinum partner, was responsible for the integration between Trapeze’s Mobility System on Novell’s SUSE Linux and eDirectory.

“Together, Trapeze and Novell deliver enterprise-class flexibility for any size customer who wants to deploy FreeRADIUS in their networks,” said Alan Dekok, FreeRADIUS project leader. “This partnership is a giant step toward interoperability and is especially beneficial for customers who plan to deploy wireless using FreeRADIUS.”

Linux is growing in enterprise markets at a rate of 37% per year. Novell is the leading provider of Enterprise Linux Solutions worldwide, and has the largest Linux distribution in Europe.SUSE Linux has become a mainstream enterprise platform and is gaining rapid acceptance in the financial services industry, education, and vertical markets.

“Trapeze has taken the lead for the Linux community by leveraging Novell’s eDirectory,” said Kris Bruno, president at BEI – Net.Worksâ„?. “It’s refreshing to see a networking vendor like Trapeze step up to the plate to meet the needs of enterprise customers who recognize that SUSE Linux is the best choice for an enterprise class Linux deployment.”

“Trapeze’s certification on Novell’s SUSE Linux and eDirectory is strategic to our customers because it allows them to easily adopt wireless technology without any added hassles or interoperability issues,” said Hal Bennett, Vice President of Global Business Development at Novell. “The products simply work together, unlike Trapeze’s WLAN competitors where there aren’t any guarantees.”

“This is a great opportunity for Trapeze,” said Jim Vogt, president and CEO of Trapeze Networks. “There is a near perfect match between the verticals implementing Linux and the verticals deploying wireless. We are the only vendor who can target Novell’s rapidly growing Linux customer base with a certified solution.”

Novell’s customer base can now easily leverage Trapeze’s Mobility System that connects mobile wireless users to applications and services while maintaining prescribed security policies. With this fully integrated solution user’s security and service profiles can be drawn from eDirectory. Users log into the network once and their security and service profiles are enforced as they roam throughout the enterprise.
