Ulticom Expands Support for MontaVista Linux
Cannes, France, February 15, 2005 – At the 3GSM World Congress conference, Ulticom, Inc. (NASDAQ: ULCM), the premier provider of signaling software solutions, today announced it has expanded support for the Linux operating system by introducing Signalware on MontaVista Linux Carrier Grade Edition 3.1 (CGE 3.1). The combination of Signalware, MontaVista CGE 3.1 and open computing systems will help Network Equipment Providers (NEPs) dramatically reduce overall system costs and time to market when deploying new 3G wireless access and core network elements.
Signalware’s full suite of products are fully supported on MontaVista CGE 3.1, including Signalware SS7, SIP, SIGTRAN and Gateway, and are also available on Solaris and Red Hat Linux. Fully compliant with the Open Source Development Labs (OSDL) Carrier Grade Linux Specification 1.1, MontaVista CGE 3.1 complements the carrier grade and high availability attributes inherent in Ulticom’s Signalware signaling software.
“Many NEPs are looking to MontaVista Linux and Signalware as a complete solution to offer proven, robust signaling capabilities required for carrier grade network deployments,” said Peder Ulander, vice president of marketing, MontaVista Software. “Together, MontaVista’s CGE and Signalware address the availability needs and standards compliance required by our NEP customers.”
“Open computing system support has long been the philosophy embodied in the Signalware product, allowing NEPs to select best-of-breed computing platforms that optimally match deployment requirements,” said Osman Duman, vice president of marketing at Ulticom. “MontaVista shares this philosophy with an operating environment and development platform that enable NEPs to leverage commercial, off-the-shelf computing platforms ranging from server-based systems to rack-mountable AdvancedTCA (ATCA) systems.”
