Sophos Enterprise Solutions Add Proactive Threat Detection And Address Complexity Of Threats
Sophos, a world leader in protecting businesses against spam and viruses, today announced the latest edition of Sophos enterprise solutions. Offering gateway, server and endpoint protection, enterprise solutions introduces Genotype detection technology, a method of using forensic analysis to identify suspicious patterns and characteristics that are unique to either a virus family or a spam campaign. By analysing these Genotype patterns, Sophos can reduce exposure to new unidentified threats and unwanted content.
The Sophos products incorporate new architecture to address the security needs of medium-to-large enterprises, which inevitably have complex IT infrastructures. Sophos’s new easy-to-use management tools integrate updating and reporting tasks, removing much of the existing administration costs.

A significant addition to Sophos’s endpoint protection is an improved management interface in the form of the new Sophos Enterprise Console. This administration console incorporates a flexible management architecture that meets the needs of organisations looking to simplify the management of Windows and Macintosh anti-virus protection across their network of desktops and servers – including those running in multiple locations.
IT administrators benefit from a range of features including central deployment, enforceable network-wide anti-virus policies and powerful integrated reporting. With the ability to manage by exception, IT administrators can also identify those computers with non-existent or outdated protection, remedying potential vulnerabilities quickly and easily. To help businesses meet the increasing need to manage security for their remote users, Sophos has designed Enterprise Console with a built-in database system to centrally track and report the status of these machines.
Sophos’s email gateway and mail server product line, PureMessage, has also added integration and management capabilities. New features in the gateway product (PureMessage for UNIX 5.0) include a new reporting engine that provides greater visibility into filtering performance and expanded, flexible reporting timeframes. Additional features include easy LDAP integration, enhanced end-user web interface robustness and performance, native support for the Sun Java System Messaging Platform, and streamlined deployment. PureMessage 2.1 for Windows/Exchange offers installation improvements and scalability enhancements.
