Sygate Joins Network Admission Control (NAC) Program
FREMONT, CA, Jan.10, 2005 Sygate Technologies, the market leader in enterprise security solutions, today announced it has joined the Network Admission Control (NAC) program, an industry-wide collaboration led by Cisco Systems that uses network infrastructure to enforce security policy compliance on all devices seeking to gain access to network computing systems. NAC is part of the Cisco Self Defending Network strategy that helps customers build networks that can identify, respond, and adapt to security threats.
Joining NAC enables Sygate to work with Cisco to help ensure that its flagship product, Sygate Secure Enterprise (SSE) is compatible with Cisco Secure Access Control Server as well as other NAC components such as the Cisco Trust Agent. This collaboration will help ensure that computers and data are protected from misuse, mis-configuration and malicious access.
Sygate and Cisco have many mutual customers, from whom we often hear a desire that we work closer on enforcement technology, said John DeSantis, Sygate?s CEO. By joining NAC, we can help ensure that our customers can use the technology that makes the best sense to them, while also ensuring that their overall network integrity remains intact.
SSE was recently named Product of the Year in the security management systems category by Information Security magazine, a leading industry publication. The award was based on extensive interviews with network security managers and third-party evaluation based on 10 specific criteria including brand or reputation, quality of product, technical innovations and strategic vision. SSE is a comprehensive solution that automates the detection and elimination of all rogue devices, applications and behaviors from the network, and protects corporate devices from becoming compromised by malware on public networks. Sygate was one of the first companies to bring security enforcement to large enterprises. Through its work with Cisco, Sygate endeavors to ensure that its customers have the best solutions available in the marketplace.
Sygate’s continuous compliance solution helps assure enterprises that rogue devices and other intruders will be automatically detected and denied access,? said Russell Rice, director of product marketing in the Security Technology Group at Cisco. Cisco recognizes that no one company can solve the complex and ever-changing threat landscape. A key benefit of NAC is that it allows customers to take advantage of their existing endpoint and policy security products through an open framework.
