CyberGuard Introduces First Webwasher Content Security Management Appliance
Boca Raton, Fla. (Oct. 18, 2004) – CyberGuard Corporation (Nasdaq:CGFW), the technology leader in network security, today announced the availability of the CyberGuard WW1000 Content Security Appliance, which integrates Webwasher’s Content Security Management (CSM) Suite into a full content security management device. Utilizing CG Linux, CyberGuard’s custom hardened Linux version, and Webwasher components such as antivirus, anti-spam, URL filter, content protection and SSL scanner, the WW1000 enables customers to administer full content security with plug-and-play deployment and remote automated updating.
“CyberGuard is meeting an enormous customer demand with the WW1000. Security software vendors typically ‘experiment’ with an appliance-based offering without having adequate experience, processes, infrastructure or hardware support in place for the product,” explained Mike Wittig, CyberGuard’s president and chief technology officer. “The Webwasher team builds on CyberGuard’s experience in providing hardware security solutions while the WW1000 solidly complements CyberGuard’s Total Stream Protection(tm) portfolio.”
Designed for medium-to-large corporate customers, the WW1000 uses the Internet Content Adaptation Protocol (ICAP) to interface perfectly with CyberGuard’s new TSP series firewall/VPN devices. In addition, the WW1000 works with other popular caching proxy servers that support ICAP.
“We believe that the market for SCM appliances will grow explosively over the next five years,” stated Brian Burke, research manager at industry research firm IDC. “Content security appliances offer an easy way for customers to field security solutions. We currently forecast the SCM appliance market to grow from $131 million in 2003 to over $1.1 billion by 2008. That represents a compounded annual growth rate (CAGR) of 53 percent from 2003 to 2008.”
Pricing for the WW1000 starts at $8,995, which includes a 100-user Webwasher Content Protection license and varies depending on the number of users and the selection of CSM components included. For mission critical deployments, CyberGuard offers an optional platinum support package, which guarantees hardware exchange within four hours. Mission critical support is available for customers in the U.S., Europe and other selected regions.
