Astaro and eIQnetworks to Provide Centralized Security Reporting Tool for Astaro Security Linux
BURLINGTON, Mass. – August 23, 2004 – Astaro (www.astaro.com), developers of the most popular open source-based network security product in use at over 20,000 networks, today announced that it has entered into an OEM licensing agreement with eIQnetworks?â€, Inc., a leading provider of award-winning security, applications and systems analytics solutions.
Terms of the agreement call for eIQnetwork’s FirewallAnalyzerâ„?, the industry’s first browser-based, cross-platform Firewall/VPN analysis and reporting solution, to be resold by Astaro to support its customers’ needs to quickly gather and analyze security event information generated from the Astaro Security Linux network security software and other network security products.
FirewallAnalyzer permits administrators to gain insight into security breaches, to understand network usage patterns, and to pinpoint the source and severity of threats and attacks. Administrators can collect, correlate, analyze, and report on data related to network traffic and to viruses, worms, probes, inappropriate web usage and other threats to security and productivity.
“This means that Astaro users will have a reporting mechanism they can use to monitor the health of the network itself, to analyze attacks, to troubleshoot problems, and to track patterns and trends over time,” said Jon Hichert, CEO of Astaro. “The detailed logging information collected by Astaro Security Linux will be available in a form that is easy to understand and use, so that Astaro customers can respond more quickly to threats and have more complete control over their security infrastructure. It will also give Astaro’s solutions partners an attractive new addition to our product line.”
Astaro Security Linux is a comprehensive network security product for midsized to large businesses. Comprised of some 80 Open Source projects plus Astaro’s own management platform and update service, it combines a firewall, VPN gateway, intrusion protection, virus protection, spam protection and surf protection (URL filtering).
“This partnership allows eIQnetworks to extend leading security analytics to customers who are depending on Astaro Security Linux for network perimeter security,” said Vijay Basani, CEO of eIQnetworks. “This relationship continues our advancement in becoming the industry standard for the most comprehensive security analysis and management solutions.”
eIQnetwork’s FirewallAnalyzer comes with hundreds of reports to help security administrators take proactive and preventive actions against cyber threats. Reports identify attack and virus activity across a variety of enterprise network devices and servers, including multi-vendor firewalls, routers, IDS/IPS devices, anti-virus gateway solutions, proxy servers and web security appliances. It delivers valuable information such as attack type, virus type, source, destination, frequency, file type, file extension and viruses by protocol.
