U.S. Army-ARDEC at Picatinny Installs APM From Realtime To Manage And Audit mySAP ERP Security
realtime North America, Inc. announced today that U.S. Army-ARDEC at Picatinny Arsenal in New Jersey has installed APM, a complete solution for role management and audit assessment to increase transparency and security in it’s SAP system. Established in 1880, Picatinny is the Army’s leader in research, development, engineering, and production support for advanced weapon systems. Today the Picatinny Arsenal is providing virtually all of the lethal mechanisms used in Army weapon systems. Launched in 1997, APM is the complete solution for SAP role management, audit assessment and Sarbanes-Oxley compliance. It has been installed at over 150 Fortune 500 and other companies such as Airbus, BASF, Siemens and Toyota. The role management of APM enables administrators to generate roles based on authorization traces, perform mass authorization changes and customize derived roles. The risk management of APM allows the administrator to perform risk analysis during role maintenance by identifying critical authorizations. The process analysis identifies Segregation of Duties or conflicting business processes.
realtime’s certified distribution partner, TK Consultants from Houston Texas, introduced APM to Picatinny after the 2004 ASUG Show in Atlanta, where APM was presented for the first time to the North American market. Thomas Tsan, of TK Consultants, installed APM and provided a 3-day workshop to familiarize the US Army’s SAP Security team with APM’s functionalities and benefits. During the workshop APM solved a critical authorization problem in the CRM system; enabling the CRM project to go-live. Using SAP’s standard functionality, the security team was not able to resolve a CRM authorization problem. The authorization trace function of APM captured the necessary authorizations and created a security role for the end-users within minutes.
According Darryl Vegh, Systems Engineer IT Management, the key decision for purchasing APM is the ability to resolve security issues quickly and reduce administration cost. Thomas Neudenberger, COO of realtime North America, adds, “APM addresses several known limitations of SAP’s Profile Generator”. APM has not been launched until now, since realtime was focusing all their marketing efforts on it’s award winning bioLock – the first fingerprint access, function control, identity and risk management system for SAP.
APM is now available in the North American market and educational demos can be scheduled via the Internet.
