Panda Anti-Virus engine integrates with Blue Coat High-Performance ProxyAV Appliance

Panda Software, a world leader in virus and intrusion prevention, today announced that its anti-virus scanning engine interoperates natively on the new Blue Coat(tm) ProxyAV(tm) high-performance Web anti-virus appliance. The Blue Coat ProxyAV appliance with Panda Software anti-virus technology enables organizations to deploy scalable, high-performance Web anti-virus while meeting the “real-time” requirements of Web traffic.

The ProxyAV appliance with Panda Software leverages Blue Coat’s ProxySG(tm) platform to quickly and intelligently process Web objects and determine which objects should be scanned for viruses. Web objects are sent to the ProxyAV appliance for rapid scanning by the Panda anti-virus engine, and clean objects are sent back to the Blue Coat ProxySG platform where they are cached for an additional performance benefit. The integrated Blue Coat ProxyAV with Panda solution provides customers with Web traffic throughput of up to 249 Mbps with only 4 milliseconds average latency.

The Panda Software anti-virus scanning engine running on the ProxyAV appliance is automatically kept updated via the Internet, providing hands-off operation for administrators. Virus signatures are kept up-to-date and are delivered directly from PandaLabs, where technical staff analyze, disassemble, macro scan, and analyze potentially malicious code. If a file does in fact contain a new virus, the disinfection and detection routines are prepared and quickly distributed to users.
