Datapower’s XG4 Xml Chip Named A Finalist In The Best Of Interop Awards For Networld+Interop 2004 Las Vegas
LAS VEGAS – NetWorld+Interop – May 10, 2004 – DataPower, the creator and leader in intelligent XML-Aware Network (XAN) infrastructure, was named a Finalist in the Performance Enhancement category of the Best of Interop Awards competition by CMP Media’s CRN, Network Computing, VARBusiness and Network Magazine. The winners will be selected at NetWorld+Interop 2004 Las Vegas, to be held May 11, 2004. Previous winners include Cisco, 3Com and Computer Associates.
The XG4? (XML Generation 4) product family of XML chips and modules was unveiled today at NetWorld+Interop (Booth #2559) in a separate announcement (see “DATAPOWER FIRST TO BREAK GIGABIT BARRIER FOR XML PROCESSING WITH ITS XG4 XML CHIP”, May 10, 2004). XG4 is the first XML networking security and acceleration solution to deliver gigabit performance necessary for today’s high-speed network and server infrastructure. DataPower XG4 subsystems offer OEMs field-proven XML processing technology in a broad range of form factors, speed ratings and features.
The patent-pending XG4 architecture combines DataPower’s XML ASIC, off-the-shelf components and proprietary driver software to perform XPath and XML Schema validation directly in hardware. The XG4 product family allows OEMs, such as network vendors or blade server manufacturers, to embed XML Web Services security in traditional firewalls or security switches, SOAP load balancing in server load balancers, or XML acceleration in routers. These XML-aware networking functions are also key for virtualizing blade servers.
The editors of CMP Media’s CRN, Network Computing, VARBusiness and Network Magazine, four of CMP Media’s premier information technology publications, review over 150 submissions, evaluating new products. Finalists were then selected in 10 categories. The XG4 product family was named a Finalist in the Performance Enhancement category. The Best of Interop Awards are designed to help IT and network managers shorten the evaluation process in assessing new technology products. By identifying innovative products debuted at NetWorld+Interop, the Best of Interop Awards assist in the quest for creative solutions.
“Since creating the XAN category five years ago, DataPower has led with a vast ecosystem of innovations, partners, customers and solutions that continually receive outstanding industry praise,” said Eugene Kuznetsov, chairman and CTO at DataPower. “Setting another industry first for DataPower, our XG4 product family has established the first Gigabit XML processing benchmark enabling XML-aware functionality to be embedded in multiple form factors throughout the enterprise for reliable and secure XML and Web service deployments.”
“When selecting finalists for the Best of Interop Awards, we’re looking for products that stand out from the competition by providing a unique solution to a problem or one that blazes new territory in the networking arena,” explained Ron Anderson, lab director for Network Computing and head of the joint editorial judging for the Best of Interop Awards.
Winners of the Best of Interop at NetWorld+Interop 2004 Las Vegas will be selected at the show and announced at an awards ceremony on Tuesday, May 11, 2004, at the Las Vegas Convention Center.
