(ISC)2 and University of Dallas Expand Academic Partnership To Include On-Campus Training and Examinations
VIENNA, Va. March 31, 2004 The International Information Systems Security Certification Consortium (ISC)2®, the non-profit international leader in its 15th year of training, qualifying and certifying information security professionals worldwide, today announced that the University of Dallas, College of Business, Graduate School of Management has been named an Official (ISC)2 Training Center. As part of the (ISC)2 Academic Partnership program, the University will conduct authorized (ISC)2 training and examinations for the Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP®), CISSP Information Systems Security Architecture Professional (ISSAPCM), CISSP Information Systems Security Management Professional (ISSMPCM) and Systems Security Certified Practitioner (SSCP®) certifications.
The CISSP is considered the Gold StandardSM of certifications for management-level information security professionals worldwide. The ISSMP and ISSAP are designed to validate in-depth, specialized knowledge and expertise in selected areas of the consortium’s CBK®, a continuously updated compendium of information security “best practices.” The CISSP is a prerequisite for both concentrations. The SSCP validates the abilities of information security practitioners with at least one year of experience in the profession to effectively implement information security policies in both private and public entities worldwide.
“The University of Dallas offers one of the most comprehensive Information Assurance educational programs in the country and we are pleased to broaden (ISC)2’s outreach to their students pursuing a career in information security,” said Dow A. Williamson, CISSP and director of communications for (ISC)2.
“Qualified, trained professionals are the key to implementing effective information security programs in any enterprise, and employers can be confident that professionals holding the CISSP, ISSAP or ISSMP credentials possess the integrity, leadership and skills necessary to develop, implement and manage a program across all levels of the organization,” Williamson said. “The SSCP certification is recognized as an independent and objective measure of competence and ethics for those knowledgeable in the accepted practices, roles and responsibilities of information security.”
The University of Dallas College of Business Graduate School of Management is one of the National Centers of Academic Excellence in Information Assurance Education designated by the National Security Agency, and offers a Masters of Business Administration with a concentration in Information Assurance, and a Masters of Information Assurance degree as well as a Graduate Certificate in Information Assurance.
“Expanding our academic partnership with (ISC)2 demonstrates the University’s commitment to offering the most comprehensive and highest-quality information security education, training and certification to our students,” said Allan Berg, deputy director of the Center for Information Assurance for the University of Dallas Graduate School of Management.
“Offering this range of services continues the University’s legacy of leadership in providing students with the strategic management and essential information assurance skills required to protect the critical network infrastructure on which business and government operate,” Berg said. “With this relationship, students completing the Graduate Certificate in Information Assurance can sit for the CISSP examination.”
The University of Dallas partnership is part of the (ISC) Academic Partnership Program that offers academic institutions worldwide providing information security curricula several partnership initiatives, including the ability to enhance their information security education via (ISC) scholarships, on-campus training and exams, academic credit for (ISC)2 certification-holders, e-learning, and professional experience credit for (ISC)2 certification candidates.
