Syngress Publishing Announces the Release of “Ethereal Packet Sniffing”
Rockland, MA – Syngress Publishing, Inc., today announced the publication of “Ethereal Packet Sniffing,” a book written by Angela D. Orebaugh and Gilbert Ramirez of the Ethereal development team. The book is the first to cover the popular “packet sniffer” security tool that has become very popular with network administrators.
Ethereal is used by network professionals around the world for troubleshooting, analysis, and software and protocol development. It runs on all popular computing platforms, including Unix, Linux, and Windows.
Gilbert Ramirez, Ethereal developer and co-author, said “‘Ethereal Packet Sniffing’ fills a need which has existed for the five years of Ethereal’s existence: a complete guide to Ethereal and the tools that come with it. It’s great for users who have never used a packet sniffer before, yet also provides advanced, detailed information for experienced users. Even though I’m a long-time developer on Ethereal, ‘Ethereal Packet Sniffing’ taught me things about Ethereal that I wasn’t aware of.”
Chapter topics include: Introducing Network Analysis, Introducing Ethereal: Network Protocol Analyzer, Getting and Installing Ethereal, Using Ethereal, Filters, Other Programs Packaged with Ethereal, Integrating Ethereal with Other Sniffers, Real World Packet Captures, Developing Ethereal
