BT PLC Selects InfoExpress’ CyberArmor Personal Firewall To Protect the PCs of 60,000 Mobile Employees
Telecom Giant Cites Flexible Security Policies, Integration with Nortel’s Contivity VPN
MOUNTAIN VIEW, CA — InfoExpress, Inc., announced today that telecom giant BT PLC has selected the InfoExpress CyberArmor personal firewall to protect the PCs of 60,000 mobile users in the UK as well as those utilizing wireless hot spots as they travel around the globe.
BT’s choice of CyberArmor was based on the suite’s robust enterprise-class capabilities, including flexible security policies, centralized management, customized reporting, and interoperability with the Nortel Contivity VPN client that BT employs to connect remote users to its corporate network. The decision followed an evaluation of more than a dozen competing solutions and a product analysis by internal BT security experts.

CyberArmor is an enterprise-level personal firewall suite designed to enforce centralized, policy-based security for remote user communications to a corporate network. It intelligently detects where the user’s system is located and what the user is doing, then uses environmentally sensitive policy (ESP) profiles to dynamically select the security policy most appropriate for the current situation and automatically change policies as the connection environment changes.
The suite’s backend software components facilitate centralized management of all functions. CyberArmor’s Policy Manager is used to build custom self-extracting installers for end users and to create and maintain client settings and policies; CyberServer logs security violations; and CyberConsole enables administrators to view these notifications as well as remote system configurations and logs. Client configuration and all operations are transparent to the end user.
In addition to BT, CyberArmor is used by large organizations such as Bell Canada and Nortel Networks.
