Sophos Extends Virus Protection To Cover Exchange 2003 Servers
Sophos, a global leader in computer anti-virus protection for businesses, has announced the launch of a new version of its award-winning MailMonitor for Exchange product to scan Microsoft Exchange 2003 servers for email-aware worms, viruses, and Trojan horses.
Sophos MailMonitor for Exchange v1.6 ensures the availability of world-class virus protection at the same time as Microsoft brings its Exchange Server 2003 product to market. MailMonitor scans for viruses in all incoming emails, enabling network administrators to either disinfect, delete or quarantine infected messages.
“Sophos’s early support for Microsoft Exchange 2003 helps deliver a solution that gives our mutual customers a complete defence against virus attack,” said Nigel Postings, Exchange Server 2003 product marketing manager, Microsoft Ltd. “We look forward to continuing to work with Sophos, protecting our joint customers at the desktop, server, email gateway and beyond.”
“The most widespread viruses exploit email services to spread themselves,” said David Mitchell, product manager at Sophos. “Many companies will be considering upgrading their email servers to Microsoft Exchange 2003 and will be looking for an established anti-virus vendor which can provide them with protection throughout that transition and into the future. Sophos is well placed to provide that protection against the hundreds of new viruses we see each month.”
Sophos MailMonitor for Exchange is capable of scanning all messages and files for viruses, Trojans and worms regardless of their entry route before they are delivered to users. The software, which works with both Microsoft Exchange 2000 and Exchange 2003 can be kept constantly up-to-date with protection against the latest virus threats using Sophos’ Enterprise Manager product.
