Infonetics VPN/Firewall Worldwide Report: NetScreen Gains in Revenue and Unit Market Share

GUILDFORD, U.K., July 1, 2003—NetScreen Technologies, Inc. (Nasdaq: NSCN) today announced that a report from Infonetics Research for the first quarter of 2003 shows that NetScreen maintained its No. 1 unit market share ranking for high-end devices and displaced two competitors for two significant firewall and VPN market share categories.

Data from the report, titled “VPN and Firewall Products – Quarterly Worldwide Market Share and Forecasts for 1Q03,” shows that in the first quarter of 2003, NetScreen: · Maintained its No. 1 ranking for high-end devices (in the greater than $30,000 price-banded category) with more than 32 percent unit market share;
· Passed a competitor and moved into second place in the mid-range (price-banded $10,000 to $30,000) category with nearly 17 percent unit market share; and
· Reached third place for overall revenue in the Worldwide Total VPN and Firewall Appliance Hardware and Software Market Share category, displacing the previous incumbent.
