Panda Software Welcomes Microsoft Initiatives For Improved Computer Security
MADRID, SPAIN – June 11, 2003 –
Multinational antivirus leader Panda Software reacted affirmatively to Microsoft’s acquisition of GeCAD software today, which Microsoft states it will use to enhance the Windows platform and extend support for third-party antivirus vendors.
“We have worked with Microsoft for two years now on a better infrastructure for antivirus management, and we will continue to do so,” said Mikel Urizarbarrena, CEO and President of Panda Software. “Microsoft’s first step will help set standards and let users and developers focus on fighting viruses.”
Pedro Bustamante, Chief Marketing Officer of Panda Software, added: “Hackers don’t respect categories. Early this year, our Appliance was able to stop Slammer, actually a denial of service attack. We predict that categories of intrusion will continue to be blurred, and that anti-virus will redefine itself as anti-malware, which will challenge the best expert teams. Our philosophy of proactive defense will help our users remain as safe as possible into the future.”
Bustamante continued: “Network and security managers know that not all virus labs are created equal, and many already know that Panda’s labs are the best in the world. We look forward to helping many, many more. Prudent managers know they need to put Panda in their network stack, to achieve optimum security.”
