Trustix Answers Small Business Needs With Launch of First Linux-based Small Office Server

London, UK / 14th May 2003 -Trustix (www.trustix.com), the Norwegian IBM independent software vendor of security and network management solutions for Linux, announced today the launch and availability of its Small Office Server and Small Office Suite. It is aimed at small business with up to 25 network users without the need for in-house expertise.
Trustix Small Office Server, built upon the hardened Trustix Linux distribution, Trustix Secure Linux, provides a web server, mail server, proxy server, and LAN server. The Small Office Server comes pre-installed on IBM hardware. The Small Office Suite provides a software only solution for installation onto existing hardware.

In addition, Trustix Small Business Server supports 30-day versions of both RAV ANTIVIRUS anti-spam and anti-virus software and the proven NetVault backup and restore application from BakBone. All additional software is available to upgrade via Trustix and its channel partners.

The Trustix Small Office Server can be installed and configured either by a Trustix Authorised partner or even by the customers themselves where appropriate. Trustix Small Office Server will be distributed though its existing channel of IBM xSeries distributors and resellers.
Trustix Small Office Server supports centralised storage for users files, network caching to improve bandwidth utilisation and centralised logon to improve security.
As well as providing benefits in ease of use and speed of configuration, Trustix Small Office Server offers substantial savings when compared to a proprietary equivalent suite of server-based solutions.
One distinct advantage of Trustix Small Office Server over its proprietary alternatives is the ability to install and run the separate server modules across multiple servers. Systems managers are not forced to install and run all server applications on a single piece of hardware.
Upgrades to the professional range and a 50-user version are also available.
