World’s Largest Privately Held Commercial Printer Becomes NetBotz 2000th Customer
Quad/Graphics Uses NetBotz to Protect Assets;
NetBotz Also Announces Move into Asia Pacific; Latest Version of its Award-winning Physical Security Solution
AUSTIN, Texas – April 28, 2003 – NetBotz, Inc., the leading global provider of IP-based intelligent physical security solutions, today made several significant announcements demonstrating the company’s worldwide leadership in the rapidly growing physical threat management space, including the news that Quad/Graphics, with revenues of $1.8 billion, has become the 2000th customer to deploy the NetBotz Intelligent Physical Security Solution.
According to Quad/Graphics’ Dave Goetzel, data network services manager, and Lisa Winter-Cebula, operations technician, the commercial printer will use NetBotz to ensure the security and uptime of its infrastructure. “?Production Prevails’ is our motto,” said Goetzel. “With customers around the world, from Time and Newsweek to international publications, we’ve got to keep our facilities up around the clock.”
Added Winter-Cebula, “This means we’re very sensitive to factors that can interfere with our operations. NetBotz helps protect our infrastructure from the physical threats that can jeopardize those operations.”
“There’s a growing global awareness that as technology density within IT-designated rooms escalates and as global concerns around physical security for all kinds of assets accelerate, world class companies such as Quad/Graphics are looking to reduce their vulnerability to physical threats,” said Tom Goldman, NetBotz president and CEO. “We’re delighted Quad/Graphics turned to us to help protect their assets. Pundits say you’re known by the company you keep. Quad/Graphics is a great global company and a valued customer.”
Along with announcing its 2000th customer and an unsurpassed physical security solution, NetBotz also said it has set up an Asia Pacific headquarters in Hong Kong, to meet the growing global demand for the company’s products. In addition, the company has field offices in Tokyo, Singapore and Bangkok. This furthers NetBotz’ international expansion, which already includes Europe, Africa, the Middle East, Australia, Canada, and all of Central and South America.
“Security is a growing concern among Asia Pacific customers,” said Goldman, adding “there’s a large preponderance of companies with distributed, remote sites. This makes many organizations highly vulnerable to physical threats. Coupled with the region’s high receptivity to innovative, proven technologies, aggressively pursuing efforts there makes perfect sense.”
Moreover, the company has unveiled the newest additions to its award-winning physical security solution, WallBotz 500 and NetBotz Central 2.0. (See related release NetBotz Announces WallBotz 500 Physical Security Appliance.)
Advances introduced in both the WallBotz 500 Sentry appliance and NetBotz Central 2.0 leapfrog competitive offerings, providing the worldwide market’s only secure, surveillance-level physical security solution that can provide enterprise-wide physical threat management. This, in essence, turns the NetBotz solution into an IP-based physical security network that can be viewed, managed, deployed and configured from a web browser-across buildings, borders and boundaries.
Behind the NetBotz Growth
Several factors have contributed to the enormous market acceptance of the NetBotz Physical Security solution. Foremost, the explosion of technology has created a number of unaddressed problems around the physical security of critical assets. There are too few people watching over too many assets-an especially acute problem for the organization with a number of remote, distributed locations. No organization has the money or resources to guard its infrastructure in all the places in which it resides.
In addition, hostile environmental factors such as extreme temperatures and dangerous humidity levels can lead to network and equipment downtime. Making this problem worse is the fact that rising equipment density means more heat and power in smaller spaces.
And finally there is the growing need for more security around critical infrastructure and assets-from IT assets to hospital storage spaces to facilities closets housing expensive maintenance equipment.
By providing an alerting system around the environmental factors that can threaten assets as well as a visual record of motion events, NetBotz offers customers the ability to protect their assets wherever they exist within an organization, even across geographic boundaries.
