Freeman Health System Selects Zix Corporation for System-wide Email Protection Services
Community-owned healthcare system implements multiple ZixCorp email protection solutions to cover four-state service area
DALLAS – March 5, 2003 – Zix Corporation (ZixCorpâ„?), (Nasdaq: ZIXI), a global provider of e-messaging management and protection services, today announced that Freeman Health System, a nonprofit hospital system based in Joplin, Mo., has selected ZixCorp email services for its multi-hospital health system.
Freeman purchased the full range of ZixCorp’s on-site email protection services: ZixVPMâ„? (ZixVirtual Private Messengerâ„?) will monitor inbound and outbound email communications; ZixMailâ„? desktop services will be distributed to key partners and legal teams; ZixPortâ„? will enable partners and customers to communicate securely from Freeman’s existing Web portal; and ZixAuditorâ„? will help monitor and refine the company’s security policies. Freeman will deploy the services to detect and safeguard Protected Health Information (PHI) among its 3,369 employees, 456 physicians, and over 400,000 residents of Missouri, Arkansas, Oklahoma, and Kansas. To optimize quicker installation and increase convenience, ZixVPM will also include comprehensive, validated policies to meet the standards of PHI mandated by The Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA). ZixCorp’s pre-configured HIPAA lexicon and automatic update service enables Freeman to comply with corporate and regulatory email security mandates with a high degree of confidence without having to create a PHI filtering system on its own.
