Partner Advanced Internet Security Inc. Earns Symantec Certification
AIS is the First Symantec Enterprise Solutions Partner Offering Symantec Integrated Solutions in Southern Colorado
CUPERTINO, Calif. – October 28, 2002 – Symantec Corp. (Nasdaq: SYMC), the world leader in Internet security, today announced that Advanced Internet Security (AIS) Inc., a Symantec Enterprise Solutions Partner and Colorado Springs company that specializes in providing professional Internet security services, has earned the Symantec Certified Security Engineer (SCSE) certification. By completing certification in vulnerability management and intrusion detection-two critical security areas-AIS adds to its proven expertise in managing enterprise-wide security solutions.
David Kramer, AIS vice president, earned the credential as a Symantec Certified Security Engineer (SCSE) by completing comprehensive, hands-on training and testing including several classroom and self-study hours along with technology- and product-specific exams. To achieve SCSE status with certification in vulnerability management and intrusion detection, AIS demonstrated overall knowledge in security planning, deployment and utilization along with product proficiency on Symantec Enterprise Security Manager, Symantec NetRecon, Symantec Intruder Alert and Symantec NetProwler.
“The certification gives assurance to our customers that we have the in-depth knowledge to install and service multifaceted security solutions,” Kramer said. “Being certified in Symantec’s world-class Internet Security technologies enables us to increase our value to our customers.”
Symantec is the only Internet security company that offers a complete range of integrated security solutions so that partners can protect customers’ networks at the gateway, server or the client levels against blended threats and other prevalent network attacks.
“Today, businesses face a continuing increase in the level of threat and sophistication of network attacks,” said Allyson Seelinger, vice president, North American Enterprise and Consumer Channels at Symantec. “Strong security requires multiple solutions at all levels and IT administrators need to be able to turn to integrators such as AIS with proven security expertise.”
The Symantec Certified Security Engineer certification focuses on the knowledge and experience required to design, deploy, support and manage integrated security systems.
The Symantec Certification Program provides fee-based online and instructor-led technical training and includes courses in firewall and VPN technologies, vulnerability management, intrusion detection and virus protection and content management. A passing grade on the appropriate certification exams enables partners to earn Symantec certification credentials at four different levels:
– Symantec Product Specialist (SPS): focuses on a single Symantec security product and its functionality in an overall security system;
– Symantec Technology Architect (STA): focuses on vendor-neutral security knowledge of how to design, plan, deploy and manage security solutions within a specific focus area such as vulnerability management;
– Symantec Certified Security Engineer (SCSE): has, in addition to product specific training and certification, a high level understanding of and the ability to design, plan, deploy and manage security solutions within a specific focus area such as vulnerability management; and
– Symantec Certified Security Practitioner (SCSP): is a senior consultant with in-depth knowledge and expertise across the complete range of security disciplines who has achieved SCSE certification in all security categories.
