ComputerLinks Becomes Distribution Partner of Utimaco Safeware
Completion of the e-security portfolios of ComputerLinks by a comprehensive platform for workstation security
Oberursel/Munich, September 3, 2002 – ComputerLinks has entered into a distribution contract with the IT security specialist Utimaco Safeware. By this step, ComputerLinks expands the portfolio for e-security with the complete product range of the Utimaco Safeware business unit Personal Device Security which is specialized in workstation security. For Utimaco Safeware, this co-operation is another important milestone for the consequent realization of the channel strategy decided in 2001 to the complete re-organization on indirect sales.
By the newly gained SafeGuard product line for workstation security, ComputerLinks now has a comprehensive range of technically matured and leading security solutions for the protection of PCs, notebooks and PDAs. Now, platform-spanning security concepts for PCs on the basis of hard-disk and file encryption, smartcard and biometric authentication, single sign on and integrity protection can be realized. In the growth market for mobile small devices like Pocket PCs, ComputerLinks is well positioned. Utimaco Safeware offers the world-wide first solution for a complete protection of these devices which is certified by Microsoft.
“The securing of end-devices is the basis of a sound security policy,” so Richard Hellmeier, board member of ComputerLinks. “Here, against the background of an increased sensitivity in organizations, we see a big backlog demand. A study carried out by FBI & CSI (Computer Security Institute) this year, proved that notebook theft, after the omnipresent viruses, is the second frequent computer crime.”
“By the strong market position in Europe, the full service concept and the focusing on infrastructure subjects like e-security and e-business, ComputerLinks is an extremely attractive partner for the marketing of our security solutions to professional users who not only look for solutions but for expandable concepts,” so Dr. Norbert Pohlmann, board member of Utimaco Safeware. “The co-operation with ComputerLinks creates another important condition for the complete re-organization of our sales to indirect channels.”
At the beginning of the partnership, Utimaco Safeware will present the new product line of ComputerLinks for workstation security on the “ComputerLinks University” on the 17th and 19th September in Hanover and Munich and at the ComputerLinks booth at SYSTEMS 2002.
