Kaspersky Labs Releases a New Version of Its Palm OS Anti-Virus Software
Kaspersky Labs, an international data-security software developer, announces the release of Kaspersky Anti-Virus 2.0 for Palm OS.
Kaspersky Anti-Virus 2.0 for Palm OS includes an array of new and improved features making the defense of Palm devices even simpler and comprehensive. Included in version 2.0 are an improved system of virus defense, full control over all possible virus threat sources, a new user interface, centralized control of virus database updating and a significantly enhanced anti-virus scanner.
Besides virus scanning of Palm system memory and data transferred via HotSync and Beam technologies, Kaspersky Anti-Virus 2.0 now has an improved feature for checking data contained on extension cards. The virus scanning on these devices can be accomplished automatically (such as upon the insertion of a new card) or manually according to user preferences. There is also a feature intended specifically for the HandEra 330 that allows two expansion cards to be checked simultaneously.
To maximize virus protection automation a “Conduit” module has been added to Kaspersky Anti-Virus 2.0 for Palm OS. This module, according to a user-determined schedule, updates the anti-virus database. “Conduit” is fully integrated into Kaspersky Control Center, which gives the opportunity to manage Palm OS virus defense directly from one console on a personal computer.
Version 2.0’s anti-virus scanner in endowed with a number of features making data protection more reliable, faster and less demanding on system resources. In particular the after synchronization (HotSync) scanning procedure now checks only the programs that have actually received changes. Kaspersky Anti-Virus 2.0 for Palm OS also anticipated the need to be able to perform separate checks of main memory and expansion cards or both simultaneously.
Users of previous versions of Kaspersky Anti-Virus for Palm OS are eligible to update their software free of charge.
