Atos Origin Makes Strategic Decision In Favour of Utimaco Safeware’s Hardware Security Modules
CryptoServer, the modular, high-performance security solution for use in card-based payment traffic continues its success.
Oberursel, 19th March 2002 – Atos Origin has once again decided in favour of Utimaco Safeware’s security technology and has made long-term plans based on the new generation of the CryptoServer 2000/LAN hardware security module.
Atos Origin, one of the leading European IT and e-business service providers, and leader in the German market for electronic payment systems, will in future integrate the CryptoServer 2000/LAN hardware security module into its POSEIDON electronic cash payment system. Up to now Atos Origin has used the previous version of CryptoServer which is already accepted as the standard for card-based payment systems such as e-cash and is used by almost every large network operator.
CryptoServer 2000/LAN, the latest generation of hardware security modules from Utimaco Safeware, provides all the functionality necessary for saving and applying cryptographic keys for making transactions secure in the networks operated by financial service providers. As CryptoServer 2000/LAN is freely-programmable, integrators such as Atos Origin can develop their own, customer-specific functionality within the secured areas and this also creates the basis for smart integration into the POSEIDON product family.
Peter Ortmann, IT Security Product Manager at Atos Origin, said: “No transaction in payment traffic is possible without very high standards of security. Security module technology forms the core of a payment system. We have selected CryptoServer 2000 because Utimaco Safeware offers the best platform and the most universally-applicable security concept. With CryptoServer 2000 we can implement existing and future requirements in cashless payment traffic efficiently.”
“We are proud that Atos Origin has once again decided to purchase Utimaco Safeware AG’s security module technology, further affirming our existing good relationship with them as a customer. It also strengthens Utimaco Safeware AG’s position as a leading hardware security module supplier in financial service provider networks”, said Dr. Norbert Pohlmann, member of Utimaco Safeware AG’s Management Board.
