V-ONE Introduces New Line of SmartGuard Appliances

Integrated VPN and Firewall Security with State-of-the-Art Access Control

GERMANTOWN, Md.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Dec. 13, 2001–V-ONE Corporation (Nasdaq:VONE), a highly specialized company offering an industry-leading suite of network based security products, announces the immediate availability of its portfolio of SmartGuard(TM) VPN appliances.

The hardware appliances, built on high-speed Intel processors, include:

SmartGuard 1000: a tabletop unit designed for remote offices

and small businesses

SmartGuard 4000: a 1U rack-mountable enterprise class device

SmartGuard 5000: a 2U high-reliability enterprise system with

redundant components and a high-availability

option for the most demanding security

environments.

“With the launch of our SmartGuard appliances, V-ONE has incorporated proven SmartGate(R) security technology into a “drop-in” suite of devices that are easy to install, deploy and manage,” said Margaret Grayson, President and CEO of V-ONE Corporation.

The SmartGuard appliance portfolio uses V-ONE’s award-winning SmartGate VPN software solution with a powerful user authentication system, access control database and strong encryption capabilities. A robust stateful inspection firewall is integrated with all SmartGuard appliances.

SmartGuard’s advanced VPN capabilities include IPSec tunneling and application layer security that allows firewall traversal without requiring end users to make network configuration changes.

This innovative combination of network and application level security allows site-to-site protection as well as the ability to extend security to mobile users and business partners who require extranet access. And, the patented V-ONE On-Line Registration (OLR) system enables rapid deployment of client software to thousands of end-users. V-ONE offers support for one of the broadest ranges of client platforms, including wireless.

SmartGuard solutions are manageable from a single PC, directly or via remote access. The optional Web accessible SmartGuard Command Center allows remote management of a fully meshed network for large-scale enterprise class solutions. “We believe the ability to easily monitor, manage, and control thousands of tunnels in a large VPN network from a simple graphical interface will be warmly received by the market, particularly IT managers,” said Jim Naughton, Director of V-ONE Product Marketing.

With the introduction of the SmartGuard family of security appliances, V-ONE continues to position its products as the most flexible and powerful security solutions available today.

“The VPN concept is now proven, and end-users are looking for solutions that can handle thousands of sites and tens of thousands of users without having to hire and train a new IT staff. V-ONE has been focused on large-scale VPN solutions from day one, and is well positioned to satisfy the requirements of large end-user customers,” said Jeff Wilson, Executive Director of Infonetics Research, Inc.

List prices for the appliances range from $1,995 to $12,995 depending on the model. For more information, please visit V-ONE’s Web site at www.v-one.com or call 1-800-495-VONE.
