ICSA Labs Announces 3rd Quarter Product Certifications
Twenty-Three Products Pass Labs’ Rigorous Testing Criteria
HERNDON, Va.-November 12, 2001-TruSecure Corporation, a leading security services provider, today announced that its ICSA Labs division has certified twenty-three Internet Protocol Security (IPSec) and firewall products in Q3 2001 that meet the industry’s most stringent testing criteria. The ICSA Labs’ Certification Program provides assurance to the user community that Certified products meet industry-accepted product standards worldwide.
The companies adding to the list of existing IPSec certified products in the Q3 2001 are Avaya Inc. (NYSE: AV), Check Point Technologies, Ltd (Nasdaq: CHKP), Furukawa Electric Company, Ltd (5801.t), Intel Corporation (Nasdaq: INTC), Intoto, Inc., Lucent Technologies (NYSE: LU), NetScreen Technologies, Network Associates (Nasdaq: NETA), Nokia Corporation (NYSE: NOK), Nortel Networks (NYSE/TSE: NT), SafeNet, Inc. (Nasdaq: SFNT), Secure Computing (Nasdaq: SCUR) and Symantec Corporation (Nasdaq: SYMC).
The companies adding to the list of existing firewall certified products this quarter are: Computer Associates International (NYSE: CA), Intel Denmark (Nasdaq: INTC), Lucent Technologies (NYSE: LU), and PFU Limited.
ICSA Labs, established in 1989, is an independent division of TruSecure Corporation that creates globally accepted security product standards and testing procedures. As the industry leader, ICSA Labs sets the standard by performing extensive research as well as tracking and measuring risks. Currently, the Labs certify 95 percent of the market’s leading anti-virus software, firewalls, PC firewalls, cryptography, email scanning and IPSec products.
“The independent certification offered by ICSA Labs provides our customers with confidence that our security products comply with the industry’s highest standards,” said Paul DeBernardi, director of product marketing for Secure Computing Corporation. “Protecting our customers’ critical Internet operations is a top priority and the ICSA Labs Certification of our Sidewinderâ„? firewall and VPN gateway proves to our customers that we are committed to offering them quality information security solutions.”
ICSA Labs’ testing criteria represent the most thorough and stringent certification process to date. ICSA Labs examines and tests submitted IPSec products against a reference set of Version 1.0B Certified IPSec products to verify they: – meet a baseline set of requirements for Internet Key Exchange (IKE) and IPSec protocols that deliver entity authentication, data integrity and confidentiality; and – meet the stringent requirements of the ICSA Labs Cryptography Certification Criteria.
The IPSec certification process requires that products use strong 3DES cryptography and meet requirements for hashing, entity identification, ESP Null mode (requiring authentication without confidentiality) and more advanced testing of lifetimes, packet fragmentation handling, replay protection and Perfect Forward Secrecy (PFS).
Firewall products are tested against a standard yet evolving set of criteria. The Firewall Product Certification Criteria is composed of both functional and assurance requirements. Altogether, these criteria requirements define an industry-accepted standard that all products claiming to have firewalling capabilities must attain.
“ICSA Labs is committed to assuring the user community that their chosen solutions are tested against the most stringent criteria in information security,” said George Japak, vice president of ICSA Labs, a division of TruSecure Corporation. “These companies have worked hard to obtain ICSA Labs certification, the standard by which more than 95% of today’s security offerings are tested.”
