McAfee.com and eEye Digital Security Announce Partnership to Distribute eEye’s SecureIIs
Product Designed to Protect IIS Servers Against Internet Worms, Hacker Attacks And Cyberterrorism
SUNNYVALE, Calif., and ALISO VIEJO, Calif., Oct. 22 /PRNewswire/ — eEye Digital Security, a leading provider of network security software products (www.eEye.com) and McAfee.com (Nasdaq: MCAF), a leading provider of Web security services, announced today an agreement between the two companies to co-brand SecureIIS(TM), an application firewall designed by eEye to protect Microsoft’s IIS Web server application, and offer it through the McAfee.com Web site.
SecureIIS is a revolutionary new product that is specifically designed to protect Microsoft’s Web server application, Internet Information Services (IIS). IIS is bundled with Microsoft’s Windows(R) NT, Windows(R) 2000 and Windows(R) XP operating systems. There are approximately eight million servers running IIS as the Web server application, making it the second most commonly used application for hosting Web sites on the Internet.
IIS has gained notoriety in the last few months through the discovery of security vulnerabilities that make Web servers using IIS susceptible to attack and penetration by hackers. This was made evident with the emergence of the Code Red Worm, which leveraged one of these vulnerabilities to propagate and infect nearly one million servers worldwide.
SecureIIS, designed to protect IIS-based servers from such attacks, was able to protect servers from the Code Red assault. The capability of SecureIIS to protect servers from both known and unknown hack attack methods is quickly making the product an essential utility for ensuring the sanctity of Windows NT, 2000 and XP-based servers.
“This partnership comes at a great time for McAfee.com, as we continue to build our portfolio of best-of-breed security products,” said Srivats Sampath, president & CEO of McAfee.com. “Secure IIS complements our desktop security products by providing customers with a comprehensive security offering that protects the entry points as well as all the nodes on the network.”
“We are very excited that McAfee.com has adopted SecureIIS into its portfolio of services. This affirms SecureIIS as a critical tool for securing IIS servers worldwide,” stated Firas Raouf, Chief Operating Officer of eEye Digital Security. “McAfee.com allows us to further advance the state of proactive security on a larger scale.”
