Secure Computing Releases SafeWord PremierAccess
SECURE COMPUTING INTRODUCES GROUND-BREAKING ACCESS CONTROL SOFTWARE FOR MANAGING USER AUTHENTICATION AND AUTHORIZATION FOR E-BUSINESS APPLICATIONS
SafeWord(tm) PremierAccess(tm) Provides a Cost-Effective Solution to Ensure User Integrity and Manage Privileges Across the Industry’s Widest Range of Access Points
SAN JOSE, Calif., October 3, 2001 – Secure Computing Corporation (NASDAQ: SCUR), a leading provider of enterprise access control solutions, today announced the release and immediate availability of SafeWord(tm) PremierAccess(tm). This single software product enables organizations to seamlessly manage user access to multiple information resources including Web, VPN, Windows, UNIX, dialup and other applications. The PremierAccess solution is flexible, easy to manage and practical to deploy, providing role-based authorization and embedded support for the industry’s widest range of authentication methods, such as password-generating tokens, digital certificates, and biometrics. In addition, through a partnership recently announced with Phoenix Technologies, PremierAccess is integrated with the DeviceConnect Plus system providing device authentication for most of the world’s PCs.
“Fitting together authentication and access control solutions from different suppliers is an integration nightmare that is usually handed off to high-priced consultants,” said Eric Hemmendinger, research director, security and privacy with the Aberdeen Group. “With the introduction of SafeWord PremierAccess, Secure Computing is delivering pre-integrated solutions for access control and user authentication that are plug-compatible with existing applications. The result for IT buyers is less time and money spent on integration, and a better fit between the old and the new security solutions.”
“We chose the PremierAccess product because it was the only one that meets our current strong authentication requirements for dialup, VPN and Web access but also addresses future requirements, such as digital certificates and biometric authentication,” said John Hoffman, information security director for Kindred Healthcare.
Today’s competitive and increasingly risky business environment has driven organizations to increase security, while simultaneously expanding their networks beyond traditional boundaries to include partners, customers, vendors and remote employees. This challenge has led many companies to install multiple point-products, and left them with expensive integration projects and inconsistent levels of security. PremierAccess solves these problems, allowing organizations to leverage their existing investments, while reducing the costs of implementing, managing and deploying multiple products.
Key features of PremierAccess include: · Role-based access control for Web pages, VPN and Citrix® connections, remote dialup, Windows, UNIX, Novell and Oracle and a wide range of other applications
· A powerful Universal Web Agent that controls access to Web applications and provides single sign-on, personalization of content, session management, without requiring Web plug-ins, integration or customization.
· Seamless authentication support for VPNs from all major vendors including Check Point, Cisco, Certicom, Alcatel, Nortel and Microsoft. · Simplified management with Web self-enrollment and automatic deployment of certificates, software authenticators or VPN client software to end-users.
· Support for the industry’s widest range of authentication options including passwords, tokens, digital certificates, smart cards, USB tokens, wireless devices and biometrics.
· Device authentication in partnership with Phoenix Technologies’ DeviceConnect Plus system.
· Brokered authentication to external LDAP directories and RADIUS compatible systems, allowing organizations to extend access control and authorization capabilities to users in external directories.
· Unlimited scalability and data replication insure fault tolerance and maximum reliability.
“Security conscious organizations are extending their reach beyond traditional boundaries as they rush to deploy VPNs and Web-enabled applications,” said Jay Goldlist, vice president and general manager of Secure Computing’s Enterprise Security Division. “PremierAccess provides the most practical, cost-effective and manageable way to meet today’s expanding access control needs.”
