BindView First to Announce Support for SANS Top 20 List of Critical Network Vulnerabilities
HOUSTON–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Oct. 1, 2001–
BindView’s bv-Control Solution Suite Can Detect All Security
Vulnerabilities on SANS’ 2001 Priority One List
BindView Corporation (NASDAQ: BVEW), a leading provider of IT administration and security management solutions, today announced that its bv-Control solution suite detects all of the security vulnerabilities identified in the System Administration, Networking and Security (SANS) Institute’s 2001 Priority One List, or Top 20 List, of security threats.
The SANS Priority One List is recognized industry-wide as the leading source of critical security vulnerabilities that system administrators need to eliminate immediately. This list was first created in June 2000 and has since been updated with 10 new vulnerabilities. Led by the SANS Institute, contributors to the development of the list include members of BindView’s RAZOR Security Team as well as industry leaders from the government, academic and technology sectors.
BindView’s bv-Control for Internet Security solution received the highest level of certification from the SANS Institute last year for being the first commercial software product to address all of the security threats of the Priority One List. BindView is also the first to announce its support for this year’s SANS Top 20 List.
“The SANS Institute is pleased that BindView has stepped up again as a leader in helping customers protect themselves from these 20 most important security issues,” said Eric Cole director of the cyber defense initiative and program manager with the SANS Institute. “We applaud BindView for its quick response.”
“BindView is thrilled to be the first to offer support for the SANS Top 20 List, a necessary tool for enabling security administrators to focus on and address common security threats,” said Scott Blake, director of security product strategy at BindView. “As a critical contributor to last year’s Priority One list, BindView has made it a priority to continue the development of its bv-Control product line to protect customers from threats to the integrity of their enterprises.”
The bv-Control solution suite helps network administrators find and close security holes that hackers use to break into servers, workstations and other network devices. Through its innovative RapidFire Updates, the bv-Control solution suite enables administrators to perform automatic security checks. In addition, as new security threats are recognized by the industry, such as the recent worms Code Red and Nimda, these threats are added to the RapidFire updates, helping BindView customers ensure the integrity of their networked computing environments.
