Leading global medical device manufacturer speeds web page downloads with Packeteer’s Internet content acceleration technology
Packeteer, a leading provider of application performance infrastructure systems, today announced that ResMed, a leading global respiratory device manufacturer, has selected the AppCelera ICX Internet content acceleration system to speed delivery of the ResMed web site to users worldwide.
“The performance gains we’ve seen since installing the AppCelera ICX in front of our web server are very impressive,” said Shane Finn, global IT manager at ResMed. “Overall page download times are much faster.”
Finn said that although individual page downloads of the graphic-intensive ResMed web site once took up to 20 seconds, users now see the text immediately; the graphics are rendered progressively. This means that site visitors get the information they want faster and stay on the site longer.
AppCelera ICX is a hardware/software appliance that speeds the performance of web-based applications and the display of web content. It combines techniques in content compression, transformation, and caching to improve web response times. AppCelera ICX speeds web content to users’ desktops by adapting it to suit their access speeds and browser types.
A recent test conducted by Exodus Performance Labs (EPL) indicated that AppCelera ICX significantly improved web site performance, specifically with regard to page load time and response time for both HTML and XML files. During test execution, AppCelera ICX reduced the average load time for XML files by more than 94 percent and reduced the transmission time for HTML files by more than 82 percent.
