Exodus Teams With Counterpane to Deliver Network Security Monitoring Service
SANTA CLARA, Calif.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–May 30, 2001–Emphasizing the importance of managed security services, Exodus Communications(R), Inc. (Nasdaq:EXDS), the leader in complex Internet hosting and management services, and Counterpane Internet Security, Inc., developer and leading provider of Managed Security Monitoring, today announced a reseller agreement to provide Exodus(R)customers with a comprehensive Managed Security Monitoring solution.
Under the agreement, Exodus will offer its customers Counterpane’s Managed Security Monitoring service, which provides real-time event monitoring, intrusion detection event diagnosis, and delivery of timely intrusion detection resolution options to Exodus incident response team, known as the Cyber Attack Tiger Team (CATT). Additionally, Counterpane has selected Exodus as its preferred complex Web hosting and managed services provider.
“Today, companies are demanding complete outsourcing solutions of the highest value and security is a critical component in this solution set,” said Dr. Bill Hancock, CISSP, senior vice president of security and chief security officer of Exodus. “Understanding that a secure enterprise environment is a competitive advantage, Exodus is committed to providing its customers the highest level of security solutions available and is pleased to include Counterpane’s Managed Security Monitoring as part of its managed security offerings.”
The Managed Security Monitoring (MSM) service monitors all network devices, from firewalls and Intrusion Detection Systems (IDS) to routers and servers, and collects information that can be used to identify and prevent attacks. By combining MSM with the Exodus Incident Response service, Exodus now offers a more complete defense and response solution. This helps mitigate the risks created by ever-expanding networks and allows customers to focus on their core business competencies rather than on IT security.
“Exodus and Counterpane will offer companies the ability to maximize the security of their sites — an increasing challenge for businesses trying to leverage the Internet as a business tool,” said Bruce Schneier, co-founder and CTO of Counterpane. “Exodus has great presence and global reach, and together we can now offer the proven performance of Counterpane’s solution to more than 4,500 Exodus customers.”
