Kaspersky Lab Virus Scanner in the Mac App Store

Kaspersky Virus Scanner is a new lightweight application to secure Mac computers, available from the Mac App Store.

Kaspersky Virus Scanner detects and removes both Mac and Windows-based malware that may be hiding on machines. This ensures Mac users will not inadvertently store or spread Windows and Linux malware to other computers on their home network, or using shared storage.

When running an on-demand scan, the software will automatically update itself with the newest malware databases to identify and eliminate any emerging threats. When not in use, Kaspersky Virus Scanner will not impinge on the Mac’s system performance.

Kaspersky Virus Scanner uses the same “Mac-style” that Kaspersky Lab users have seen in other Mac security products, and is a step-up in protection compared to the pre-installed security measures for Mac OS X.

In addition to now offering Kaspersky Virus Scanner, Mac users that want premium protection for their machines and data can choose Kaspersky Anti-Virus for Mac 2011, which provides complete anti-malware protection features, including scheduled scans, more timely malware updates, and use of the Kaspersky Security Network’s cloud protection.

Kaspersky Virus Scanner has a multilingual interface that supports English, German or French. It is sold with a life-long license in all European countries, so no annual renewal is required.
