Fake Stuxnet removal tool wreaks havoc

The Stuxtnet Trojan hit the headlines pretty hard, and people around the world feared that their system was compromised, too.

Among the legitimate Stuxnet removal tools that cropped up since then, there are also bogus ones that will do nothing to disinfect your computer – if it is, indeed, infected – and cause only harm.

Bkis warns about one that goes by the name of Microsoft Stuxnet Cleaner that will wipe out the entire contents of your “C:” drive instead of Stuxnet:

When searching for similar software, maybe it is best to stick to legitimate sites and vendors that often offer free remover tools. Although, these days, you can never be 100% sure.
