Gil Vega joins Veeam Software as CISO
Veeam Software, the leader in Backup solutions that deliver Cloud Data Management, announced that Gil Vega has been appointed Chief Information Security Officer (CISO).
Vega, whose previous experience includes serving as Managing Director and CISO at CME Group and as the Associate Chief Information Officer & CISO for the U.S. Department of Energy and U.S. Immigration & Customs Enforcement in Washington, DC, will be responsible for establishing and maintaining Veeam’s vision and strategy to ensure its information assets and solutions are adequately protected, and will be pivotal in driving strategies to help customers protect their critical data across multiple environments and ensure regulatory compliance.
He has held various cybersecurity leadership posts within the Department of Defense (DoD) and the Intelligence Community. Vega will report to Bill Largent, Veeam Chief Executive Officer (CEO), and will be part of the company’s executive management team.

With more than 22 years of experience, Vega is a security expert through and through. Before joining Veeam, Vega was Managing Director & CISO responsible for global cybersecurity, technology risk & compliance at CME Group, based in Chicago.

Prior to his career in financial services, Vega was a member of the U.S. Federal Government’s Senior Executive Service and served as the Associate Chief Information Officer & CISO for the U.S. Department of Energy and U.S. Immigration & Customs Enforcement in Washington, DC.

Vega holds undergraduate and graduate degrees in Information Systems & Information Assurance, is a graduate of the Federal Executive Institute in Charlottesville, Virginia and a proud veteran of the U.S. Army, having participated in combat operations in Operations Just Cause, Desert Shield and Desert Storm.
