Free endpoint security inspection tool
Promisec announced a free, downloadable and automated security inspection for up to 100 endpoints. The free inspection process (available here) produces results in about five minutes, with all data stored locally on the administrator’s machine to assure privacy and confidentiality.
Based on thousands of scans conducted over several years with companies of varying sizes, Promisec found that, on average, more than 20 percent of endpoint devices contained undetected risks including disabled antivirus agents, missing hot fixes and service packs unauthorized software running and much more.
As endpoints become the target where attackers seek to exploit vulnerabilities, security and IT professionals must have complete agnostic real time visibility into their endpoints to assure they are protected and meeting compliance requirements.
Companies who choose to download and run the free inspection tool will learn key insights about the status of 100 select endpoints, including:
- Whether their designated anti-virus program is installed, up to date and running properly
- The presence of unauthorized black listed items such as P2P, hacking tools, or remote controls
- The status of Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager or Systems Management Server.
Armed with this information, IT security and operations professionals can make informed decisions about the state of their endpoint security, and whether to increase visibility and security efforts accordingly. The tool enables real time visibility into endpoints without installing any agents that can impact network bandwidth or the performance of the endpoints being inspected.
