NCP engineering enhances Android VPN clients

New features have been added to NCP engineering’s four Android-compatible IPsec VPN clients, available here.

Their software features the addition of Full Network Enclosure Mode, which safeguards a connection when a device is in the same IP address subnet as the remote network by forcing all data through NCP’s secure VPN tunnel.

Refinements have been made to the connection settings, to ensure that users are able to automatically reconnect if a connection is lost. Additionally, the Android clients include a reworked configuration interface, improved certificate PIN handling and PKCS#11 interface support.

NCP’s centrally managed Android-compatible IPsec VPN clients can be used in conjunction with the company’s NCP Secure Enterprise Management (SEM) system, which allows network administrators to oversee users’ mobile devices and operating systems, and roll out certificates, licenses and other updates. In the new Enterprise version, the SEM can send configuration updates that are personalized for each user’s specific Android device.

NCP’s software does not require rooting of the Android operating system, can easily import existing VPN settings, and is compatible with all common VPN gateways (such as Cisco, Juniper, Watchguard and Checkpoint) and essential business applications, including terminal-server and email clients. When used with NCP’s VPN gateway, its Path Finder technology lets the VPN clients navigate challenging firewall and proxy settings to establish secure tunnels.
