Fluke Networks adds remote analyzer capability to wireless LAN tools
Fluke Networks announced a new remote analysis capability for its portable WLAN tools, making them the first to enable both real-time troubleshooting and spectrum analysis of remote wireless networks.
This allows organizations with remote sites that do not need WIDS/WIPS 24/7 monitoring to resolve connectivity and interference problems, identify rogue devices, and detect security violations without having to make site visits.
“Limited IT staffing and budgets are a critical issue for many of our customers, so the ability to have a portable tool with the capability to troubleshoot remotely in real time instantly extends the capacity of their staff,” said Ben Russell, senior systems engineer at PacketLogix. “That’s a huge game changer for our customers and improves their ability to troubleshoot WLAN performance and security issues.”
“Our new remote analyzer not only helps our customers avoid site visits, it also reduces productivity losses that affect the entire organization while they work to fix a problem or issue,” said Chia-Chee Kuan, vice president of the Fluke Networks WLAN business unit, noting that the cost of a site visit or “truck roll” in the U.S. alone can be more than $400*.
The remote analyzer solution is comprised of AirMagnet WiFi Analyzer PRO 10.0, AirMagnet Spectrum XT 3.5.1, and AirMagnet Series Sensors. Sensors can be deployed to remote sites and then be monitored via WiFi Analyzer PRO or Spectrum XT at a control site.
