AuthenTec releases Eikon mini USB fingerprint reader
AuthenTec introduced the Eikon mini USB fingerprint reader. The ergonomically designed Eikon mini integrates AuthenTec’s AES2660 smart fingerprint sensor and was designed specifically for notebooks, ultraportables and USB-equipped tablets to maximize user mobility.
It easily plugs into PC and Mac notebooks to add strong fingerprint security and a host of user features without any USB cable.
When Eikon mini is plugged into a USB port of a notebook, one swipe of the finger allows users to:
- Manage passwords
- Automatically log into favorite websites
- Quickly launch one or multiple websites
- Lock and unlock files and folders (PC version only)
- Protect a PC or Mac from access by unauthorized users.
Unlike other USB fingerprint readers that are on a memory key or include a lengthy cable and are designed for desktops, Eikon mini can remain plugged into a notebook indefinitely, providing ultra-portable convenience and security for users in the office or on the road. It helps ensure that everyone’s online accounts remain private and secure by allowing individuals to use their fingerprint as the key to notebook access.
Once plugged into a USB port, the Eikon mini measures only 0.6 inches (width) by 0.75 inches (length) by 0.5 inches (height). The Eikon mini’s sturdy yet compact design allows it to easily fit in a pocket, purse or computer bag, enabling secure and private access on any USB-equipped computer for users on the go.
“Our new Eikon mini sets a new standard for fingerprint reader size and cost and is ideally suited for notebook users in the office, home or on the go. It addresses the growing demand from users who want to easily add fingerprint security to a notebook, ultrabook or tablet that isn’t already equipped with an integrated fingerprint reader,” said Tom Aebli, AuthenTec Vice President of Software and eCommerce. “No other fingerprint reader on the market today offers mini’s compact size, affordability and compatibility with PCs and Macs.”
