WikiLeaks booted from Amazon, Assange to be arrested soon

While a “hacktivist” that goes by the handle of The Jester has claimed responsibility for the DDoS attack aimed at the WikiLeaks’ page via his Twitter account (@th3j35t3r), Amazon has stopped hosting the WikiLeaks’ website on its US-based servers.

US Senator Joe Lieberman, chairman of the Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee, was satisfied by this development and said that their decision was the right one and that he hoped that other companies helping WikiLeaks stay online and distribute its material will follow their lead. It is still unknown whether Amazon has acted on its own or was responding to a request from the government.

WikiLeaks has confirmed the fact on its Twitter account: “WikiLeaks servers at Amazon ousted. Free speech the land of the free — fine our dollars are now spent to employ people in Europe.”

As regards the WikiLeaks’ director Julian Assange, his appeal to the Sweden’s Supreme Court to annul the court order asking for his detainment has been refused today, and he is still wanted by the Interpol and the Swedish police.

According to The Independent, the British police knows his current location and is expected to arrest him as soon as they get more details from the Swedish police about their arrest warrant.
