Symatec points out “dirtiest” Web sites
Norton Safe Web, Symantec’s Web site ratings and reputation service, released the results of their analysis of sites with security risks and compilied the “Dirtiest Web Sites of Summer 2009” list.
Facts about the sites on the list:
- 48% of said sites have adult content, and the other 52% content varying from figure skating to buying electronics
- The most common threats on these sites are viruses, security risks and browser exploits (in that order)
- The average number of threat per site on the list revolves around 18,000 (just to compare – 23 is the average number for all sites rated)
- 75% of the sites have distributed malware for more than 6 months.
